Following the potluck, there will be a lecture on “Preventing Cancer with Optimal Nutrition.” Dr. Fuhrman has been on the frontlines of preventive medicine for years, especially in the realm of nutrition, and he has summarized much of his message in his books Fasting and Eating for Health; Eat to Live: The Revolutionary Formula for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss; and his latest book, Disease-Proof Your Child: Feeding Kids Right. He has written articles for publications like Journal of Orthopedics and Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine for University of Pennsylvania, Mothering Magazine, and Health Science. Dr. Fuhrman is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and has received the St. Joseph’s Family Practice Resident’s Teaching Award for his contribution to the education of residents. He provides nutritional education to other physicians (who get little training in nutrition in medical school) and he is a guest lecturer at Cornell University Graduate Program in Human Nutrition and for other conferences, college campuses, and sports teams. He has also appeared on radio and TV, including “Good Morning America,” “Today Show”, “America’s Talking”, “TV Food Network, “CNN” and “The Discovery Channel.”
