PermalinkJoin CHOICE!
With news reports of childhood obesity capturing headlines around the country, the need to provide young people with healthy food in school cafeterias is a compelling social justice issue on many levels, affecting not only students’ academic performance but also their long-term health. The time is ripe to improve this system. We are excited to announce the launch of a new Bay Area-based effort to address this issue by empowering students, parents, teachers, food service providers, and community members to advocate for a change!

Join community members and CHOICE, Citizens for Healthy Options in Children’s Education, to learn how to get involved in the effort to offer healthier food in the school lunch program.

WHEN? Tuesday July 19th, 6-8pm

WHERE? San Francisco Public Library-main branch; 100 Larkin St. (at Grove), right near Civic Center BART. We’ll be in the Latino/Hispanic Community Meeting Room, located on the Library’s lower level. Enter on Grove St., make your first right and proceed downstairs.

RSVP (helpful but not required), and direct questions, to: healthyschoollunch@yahoo.com or call 415-710-7351.
